Bio from the Band Members August 2007

Tina Hiddink

(vocals)

I live near Bloomfield, Ontario in wine country and work in Commercial Agriculture banking under the title of "Customer Relationship Manager".

Background:
As of 2007, I have been married for over 35 years. Have 2 daughters, 1 son and 4 granddaughters. Born and raised on a dairy farm near Milford, Ontario, I currently farm in partnership with my husband Hank, operating a 50 cow/calf beef farm. I have worked for Scotiabank for over 35 years with over 20 years experience in Commercial Agricultural Lending and Enterprise Solutions. I am committed to working for my church and community and as a result, I volunteer. I am on a number of local and regional boards and committees as a director and / or member focused on the promotion of agriculture to both farmers and the urban population.

Why I’m in the Band:

1. I love music. I have been singing in front of an audience since I was 6 years old. God gave me a talent and he encourages us to use those talents. If I can share my love of singing with other people it makes me happy and it also uplifts my soul in this busy world that we live in. I also enjoy the camaraderie with the other Band members were we can share a laugh or a tear.

2. It is something I do just for me. It is a stress reliever were I can forget all the other issues/demands of my life.

Greg Howard(drums)

I play the drums and I’m also the band’s comedian!!!

My wife, Mary, and I live in Deseronto and I’m the manager of Schooner’s Fish and Chips in Picton.

2007 – I’m 48 and have been playing drums since I was 9. I also play guitar and bass guitar. I have a daughter 20 and a son 25 who both live and work in Toronto. I am married to Mary since 2006 and we are raising Mary's son Jayme (19) and our grandson Kaleb (7 months). I attend Friendship United Church. I’m in the band because it’s my way of expressing my devotion to God in a musical way. I also enjoy the fellowship with friends and family.

Rick Moynes
(piano, vocals, sometimes the bass guitar)

I live on the shores of Hayward Long Reach in Prince Edward County and work in purchasing & sales for AABEN Windows in Kingston.

I grew up in the church, but left for a time until my children were born. Of the many roles that I play at Friendship United Church, music is what speaks to me the most. Our church choir is enthusiastic and when we transferred to Friendship I found myself in the choir loft on the first day I was there. Singing and playing in the band is just a logical extension of being a choir member. Sharing the power of music through familiar hymns and contemporary Christian music is wonderful.

My wife, Debbie, and I have been married over 25 years and have two girls, Jessica who is a teacher in Belleville and Laura who lives at home. My hobby is tropical fish and I maintain two large aquariums. In my spare time I do woodworking in my shop and renovate our home.

I’m in the band because God has given me the ability to play the piano and lead in this ministry of music. I enjoy sharing the music with others. Worshipping in song is important to me.

John V. Tomlinson

(vocals, acoustic rhythm guitar)

Where I live: overlooking the beautiful Bay of Quinte on Northport Road in Prince Edward County.

Occupation: Electronic Technician at a Corrugated Board Plant in Belleville, Ontario.

Background:
When I was a youngster, my grandparents would take us to Sunday School. When my wife Gisela and I moved to Prince Edward County from Toronto we took our two children, Mark and Laura, to Sunday School at Friendship Church. Our family has been an active part of Friendship Church for over 20 years. I’ve been on many committees and boards and of course I sing in the church choir. I've always had a passion for music. When I turned 40, I bought a guitar and taught myself to play. I started playing the old songs which I grew up with. I had no idea where God was leading me!

Why I am in the band:
I’m excited! I’ve found a little part of the church where I’ve made friends, I’m contributing and I belong. I can forget all the other things in my life like work or my "to do list" and just concentrate on the music that lifts me up and brings me closer to God. I look forward to our practices on Sunday nights. These practices are a special time for all of us. It’s a time when we come together and worship with our music. There are times when I want to stop playing my guitar to just lift my arms up to praise God. I believe God has a plan for me, for the band, for the people who volunteer to do all of the work that gets done in our church. I get excited when we travel to other churches. We meet great people and we get a chance to share our music with others. People seem to embrace our music wherever we go.

Jeanette Henderson

Where I live:
I live in the village of Demorestville, just down the hill from Friendship United Church.  It’s a quiet place to live and I’m glad that my husband and I can raise our family here.

Occupation:
I teach for the public school board.  I have taught almost all grades in my career first as an occasional teacher and then as I moved into full time employment. I currently am teaching grade 1 in Trenton and really enjoy the challenges of my job and the people I work with.

Background:
I have been married to my husband Scott for over 20 years and we have three children. Emily,  the oldest is ready to go off to university, Noah, is in high school and Abbie is in elementary school.  I enjoy working in the flower beds around the house once the warm weather is here and creating other things with my hands through baking, quilting, or knitting.  I’ve been attending Friendship Church for some time and spend some of my time there teaching Sunday school, keeping minutes for the board meetings and singing in the choir.  It’s a warm community to be in every Sunday.

Debbie MacDonald Moynes

(they affectionately call me the “band manager”)

I live: On the shores of Hayward Long Reach with my husband Rick.

Occupation:
Executive Director of The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association; Adjunct Professor at Loyalist College

Background:
I love music and organizing things. The two come together for me in the band. I was born and raised in The County, leaving here only long enough to graduate from Queen’s University (in 1980 and again in 1996). My daughters are Jessica , a teacher in Belleville and Laura, who lives at home.

I’m actually not in the band. I’m the person who does the sound; chooses all of the play lists; selects new music; co-ordinates the dates they play in church and for special events; arranges road trips; does the promotion; etc. The role suits my interests perfectly: I can spend time with my husband doing something we both enjoy; organization and planning are my specialties; and the music is great. What a wonderful way to serve God!
